you came into my life like rain
gentle- not a tidal wave-
no sandstorm reshaped these planes-
but you have reformed the earth,
made the ground bear grasses-
water, such a simple thing
to the earth, aching for it
the ground, cracked and dry, despairing
you were water
like oxygen to a child
I breathed you and simply lived.
